Your progress is personal. We treat it that way.

This notice explains what Layna collects, why we use it and the choices you have. It covers the Layna website, account and practice tools.

Who is responsible for your data

Layna is responsible for the personal data described in this notice. For a privacy question or rights request, use the controls in your account or email hello@layna.app.

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address, sign-in information and email-verification status.
  • Learning details: practice activity, answers, scores, completion history and any test date or transmission preference you choose to add.
  • Payment records: the plan, payment status, billing customer reference and transaction reference. Stripe processes card details; Layna does not receive your full card number.
  • Technical and security data: information such as request logs, device or browser information and security events needed to run and protect the service.
  • Messages: the information you send when you contact us for help, a correction or a legal request.

You can use many practice tools without an account. Anonymous progress stays in your browser unless you sign in and choose to sync it.

Why we use it

  • To provide the service you ask for: create your account, save progress, personalise a plan and provide paid features.
  • To run Layna safely: prevent abuse, diagnose faults, protect accounts and understand whether core features work.
  • To meet legal duties: keep appropriate payment and tax records, handle rights requests and respond to lawful requests.
  • With your consent: use optional analytics or send marketing where a separate choice is offered. You can withdraw that consent at any time.

Our legal bases are contract, legitimate interests in operating and securing Layna, legal obligation and consent, depending on the activity.

Who helps us provide Layna

We share only what is needed with providers that support hosting, databases, account authentication, email delivery, security and customer support. When you buy a plan, Stripe handles checkout and payment processing under its own privacy notice.

Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where UK data-protection law requires it, we use an approved transfer safeguard or rely on another lawful transfer mechanism.

We do not sell personal data.

How long we keep it

We keep account and learning data while your account is active and for only as long afterwards as it is reasonably needed to provide support, resolve disputes and protect the service. Payment and tax records may be kept for the period required by law. Security logs and support messages are kept only as long as they remain useful for the reason collected.

Open Account and settings to export a readable copy, permanently delete an account or clear anonymous progress from this browser. You can also email hello@layna.app from the address linked to your account for help with a rights request.

Your choices and rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your data, receive a portable copy, object to some uses and withdraw consent. We may need to confirm your identity before completing a request.

If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. We would still welcome the chance to put things right first.

Cookies and browser storage

Layna uses essential account storage and local browser storage to keep the service working. Optional storage is used only with the choice described in our cookies notice.
